The 2007-2008 Memphis Tigers entered the season with a lot of hype and a #3 national ranking. A lot of that was due to incoming freshman phenom Derrick Rose. But John Calipari's team was loaded with NBA talent including 6-7 forward Chris Douglas-Roberts who led the team in scoring with 18ppg.

The Tigers reeled off 26 straight wins to open the season including wins over #24 USC, #5 Georgetown, and #17 Arizona. Memphis spent 5 weeks during the regular season ranked #1 in the AP Poll. They entered the NCAA Tournament with a record of 33-1 earning them a #1 seed in the South region.

Once there they dispatched the likes of Mississippi State, Michigan State, Texas and UCLA setting the stage for one of the greatest championship games in the history of March Madness against Kansas.
